This book is written by Vladimir Antchak and Olivia Ramsbottom.
I read chapters six and seven of this book, which were about the five senses in event design and interactive technologies.
Chapter six- Five senses in event design, was co-authored by Sarah Jones, and it spoke about how to use the five senses to create an immersive experince at an event and also how to apply them in event design. This chapter describes a variety of ways to use the five senses in event design, one being how to use colour to prompt the sense of sight. Using a table adapted from Matthews (2016, pp.57-58) a variety of different colours that are often used in event design were explained using their key meanings, for example white has connotations of perfection, innocence and purity, while red symbolises passion, desire and love.
Chapter seven- Interactive technologies discussed the different levels of interactivity, the value of interactive technology and some interactive solutions for event designers. It describes ways to use interactive technologies to design extraordinary experiences for guests and explains a variety of options that could be used for different events.
Event Design
Event design is the basis for
any successful event as it is the
main view that affects how customers percieve the event. Being able to design an event successfully is a good skill to have because it means you can create interesting and new ideas. Reading these two chapters of this book has given me ideas that can be used to better my
event designs, and also a variety
of ways to ensure the events
are unique.
